Introduction
To the index
My wife had the desire to own a laptop, so my wife was not dependent on the rare minutes that 'the' laptop was not used by me O-) and they did not have to move to the computer room. , the demands placed on this laptop are not high: The laptop will be used only for a little internet, mail, office applications and occasional browser games. 's why I was looking for the most value for money 'with a budget of 400 euros. prefer I had a laptop with an Intel I3 processor, but that turned out for the money and at that time not possible (at least at one of the shops where I had good experiences with it). So I had to swerve or AMD or any other type of processor from Intel. In the past I have AMD actually leave, because I always left 'ever gamble with time' Cyrix 'processors have made. in '80486 / Pentium After nothing different problems and trying the most exotic coolers, was the ultimate real solution, the processor under overclocking. Consequently, the system was even slower, because this 'Cyrix' standard processors were already clocked at a lower speed than a 'Pentium' processor that the Cyrix processors compare in terms of speed than was / would be. I have from that moment nothing else planned to take over 'int' when it comes to a processor. more from that choice, I certainly had no regrets, because all systems I have built with 'Intel processors worked prefect without a single problem, even if it (a lot) were overclocked ... Recently, I have a HP laptop with an AMD processor overhauled. I was not dissatisfied with the performance of a laptop and therefore I am (anyway) gone AMD. I have the laptop ordered from Cool Blue for € 399, - during the "you pay blue days", uuh I mean, of course, during the "blue days" . As I'm used to Coolblue I had the next day the laptop inside.

First impression

Weighing in at almost 2.5 pounds, the laptop feels relatively heavy. The screen feels quite thick and therefore is strongly / rude about it. , the screen does not lock (I like that) and is smooth to slightly rough open. The screen is glossy, which in the (sun) light can be annoying. The keyboard feels very solid and solid, like the rest of the laptop. Everything is very nicely finished and everything closes neatly together.

Adapter
To the index
The adapter HP is nice and compact and therefore easy to store. In a laptop case / suitcase He does his work with any input voltage from 100 volts to 240 volts AC at a frequency of 50 to 60Hz. The output voltage is 18.5 volts DC. The output current is specified at 3.5 Ampere. The adapter has an output of 65 watts. dimensions of 10.4 cm adapter amounts to almost 4.4 cm and 3 cm thick: The 230V power cord is a few centimeters after 1 meter long. The other side (the power cord to the laptop) is at around 170 inches long. To cords easy to store, there is the power cord to the laptop 'velcro' (popularly Velcro).

The battery
To the index
The included battery is a 6 cell battery. This battery comes with average use (so far) about 4 to 5 hours with (@ energy diagrams Recommended by HP). Ample lap for a night on the couch with the laptop so. This power scheme is the laptop perfectly usable for Internet applications.

Connections

What is striking is that all connectivity options are on the two sides of the laptop. On the left side of the laptop, I find the USB ports awkwardly placed, it is my preference that the USB connectors as far as possible on the back of the laptop down. From left to right => VGA, HDMI, LAN, USB 3.0, USB 3.0, mic, headset, SD reader: From left to right => DVD drive, USB 2.0 port, power input, Kensington lock slot: The LAN port of the laptop is 100Mbit, what is also striking is that there is no dummy- card into the SD card reader is, should that happen so nice fabric of HP , sorry ...

Keyboard
To the index
The keyboard of the laptop is very pleasant to use and a breath of fresh air compared to my Acer laptop. All keystrokes are perfectly registered by the keyboard and springs good 'in' and 'back' which makes typing on this keyboard is perfect. A small disadvantage I think the operation of the volume setting of the multimedia speakers, what should be done. using the function key addition to the 'qwerty' section of the keyboard, there is a 'numerical' section, which is the input of numbers considerably simplified.

Touchpad
To the index
The touchpad of the laptop has a sort of profile are in the path, which is a welcome addition to the use of the touchpad is. in the upper left corner of the touchpad is a small dent. The dent is to disable the touch pad. Useful here is the very clear On Screen Display (OSD) feedback. Also there to the left of the touch pad, a status LED that lights red when the TouchPad is disabled. It is a multitouch touchpad, so there is support for various 'gestures'. So you can pinch and reverse pinch to zoom in, eg "Firefox". "From" "to" and by simultaneously using two fingers on the touchpad, you can scroll vertically and horizontally very simple.

Speakers

The speaker grid is (as with most laptops today) above the keyboard and is fairly low (2 cm high): What stands out is the "sound" ... Besides the fact that the speakers can bang hard (really unimaginable for laptop speakers) , once again giving the speakers a pretty full and deep sound. Turns out the "Dolby Advanced Audio" logo is not just to have been that they had lying somewhere at HP a label .

In addition to the webcam is a white status LED, which lights up when the webcam is active. The webcam works well and makes good pictures in all lighting conditions (for a camera of VGA quality). default "CyberLink YouCam" comes along. Are you = <12 years old then you will undoubtedly software 'cool' find , for the most moronic effects to add (I'm glad that I'm built on 78 shots , I mean there continue along hear nothing. .. Heat / sound production
To the index
The first thing I noticed with this laptop, the noise of the fan. This is at all times (very) audible and somewhat annoying : (. Now my laptop a little longer (2 weeks) in use, is that the fan makes a humming sound (the fan varies audible constant speed). Listen to this recording: In addition, the laptop stays nice and cool, it is the left (bottom) side noticeably warm at longer laptop use. This is the result of heat production of the various components after the laptop 2 hours on battery power:

Performance
To the index
Because imho it on a PC to the 'speed experience "goes by the user, and I (for above reasons) do not care about theoretical speed, I do not run any benchmarks. For those who still want to have, like an "indication" here the windows 'performance index': If I use this with my HP Acer compare laptop (which I do ), then 'feel' the Acer slightly faster and slightly more responsive of. However, the speed of this HP is certainly not against. because I have been Windows 8 (free after cash back action of HP => Neat!) installed on the laptop and a noticeable difference in performance have been observed (with Windows 8, the laptop much faster), I could not resist to run a benchmark: I had expected a higher score, but as stated it is imho the speed and experience that has become much better with Windows 8.

BIOS update
To the index
I got the laptop comes with BIOS version F.03. On the website of HP's version F.05 available. I have this BIOS version (F.05) flashed ... It's a shock when you have provided. shortly before an Acer laptop with a newer BIOS version , the flash tool appears to the eye to be (how could it be otherwise ...) The same major difference lies in the fact that the flash tool from Acer itself will flash when the tool is started immediately. And after flashing is therefore ready for the Acer (actually quite logical ...). At HP is different. It must be actually given by the user. After flash tool starts to flash the 'assignment' After that scare you a hat, because your laptop reboot spontaneously at an unexpected moment ... Fortunately start the "HP BIOS utilities and BIOS update then you will naturally (at least if you wait for the countdown timer) instead. What these BIOS update brings improvements, the question remains as (also) HP is very cryptic:

Conclusion
To the index
The laptop feels solid and robust, and like good so far. terms of speed, it is not a speed demon, but the performances are certainly not against. Also, my skepticism about AMD shows (fortunately, so far, fingers crossed ...) and AMD appears to be unfounded. A worthy competitor for Intel The screen is clear and the viewing angle is reasonably large. What I regret is that there very much bloatware was present on the laptop, making a clean-install still has my preference.
