Apple MacBook Pro 15 "2.8GHz (Mid 2009)

Introduction
I'm in this review my 1st experience with my 1st apple computer describe. My current experience with laptops is my HP laptop, which is deceased after 2 years. Because this laptop just sat packed problems and after 2 years, a deceased graphics card (probably physically be destroyed by overheating), I decided to take a Macbook Pro, as I mentioned gehoort. Had positive experiences Furthermore, I've been involved with gaming (shooters) and programming hobby-level Java, PHP and surrounding web development techniques. (Javascript, html, css, sql etc) My 1st mac After my "beloved" HP laptop is deceased after 2 years I thought it was about time to take. nice macbook I opted for the 2.8GHz version as only 512mb video memory is pinned to the 9,600 gt, and I was planning to use it a good deal. I'm about a week now in possession of the fun toy and am very happy with it . I picked up the piece of high-tech out of the box and flipped it open, which immediately struck me that the valve is held with two strong magnets without leaving come in handy metal (or plastic) clips together, the valve is fully closed account a pair of magnets. Once open, right on the charger and switch. I got an intro menu where you could choose your language preferences and more, followed by a fancy 3D animation to show how beautiful mac is. What immediately struck me was the poor quality of the built-in speakers. For a device that is paid 2100 euro allowed me some better speakers in it than these things simmer. Fortunately, the headphones still exists as the optical out (toslink) which works fine and is enabled automatically when you insert such a plug. Even the touchpad is pleasant to work with. You can work fine on the macbook without a mouse, especially if you know all the multi-touch capabilities of your head. Scrolling, fast scrolling back and forth leaves and toss aside all windows: it can all at once with 2 to 4 fingers. I now work with the standard touchpad, even though I just sit behind a desk with it and a mouse is connected to my macbookje. Also, the keyboard is fine. To complain about anything. Bootcamp I quickly grabbed my windows vista CD with the serial of my old laptop and went through bootcamp windows upon it. You start a piece of software (boot camp so) where you can reserve space on your 500GB HDD for windows. I 120Gig's booked, I was indeed going to turn out some games but nothing else. After reserving the HDD space you have dvd'tje the fun superdrive cram then restart your laptop to a windows vista installation screen. Once installed mac started up again, and then I found out that you should keep during startup to choose which OS you want to boot. ALT button After a reboot with the ALT button pressed we were in windows. Just install the drivers and done! Immediately steam thrown out and CoD: MW2 on it to install. While the system was working, I went to install skype so I "Internet friends" can be with my gaming and skype at the same time. Soon I bumped into a problem: my microphone does not work in windows problems windows Audio Driver The drivers of the new Cirrus Logic audio chip that they are in the new macbook's gags are downright CUNT in windows. If you put into your headphones will sound merrily through the speakers, so you will need to restart your software to let it go. Using headphones The optical out will not automatically, as it goes into mac. The optical layout also has a total shit if you plug it uithaalt there, because the red light stays lit and cheerful again, the software does not automatically pass to the speakers / headphones. I have "solved" by all audio devices turn except the headphones. I must further than standard headphones in my macje do not touch. Rid of my sound As soon as I pull out the headphones and again indoe I have no sound and I have to restart the affected software. Anyway, but then keep the headphones in it. I do not use anything else. Then the microphone problem: I solved this with a half hour googling. Somewhere was a link to a new Cirrus Logic audio driver, who do. Well it seemed After installing the microphone actually worked correctly, but the other audio problems remained. I also read a lot about other audio problems. A widely read issue was too soft or very bad sound, but I myself have no problems. Older macbooks have a realtek chip, which had none of these problems. Gaming After having that problem was solved CoD ready to be played . When starting the game, I immediately threw up all the settings (all high, textures on the car, no AA, 1440x900) and it was fairly playable. I estimate about framerate around 30 fps. It's playable, but I'd rather play with 40fps +, so I have all the graphical things off and left at 1440x900 resolution. With these settings, the game is perfectly playable with full FPS that the monitor has to offer. Moreover runs GTA IV also fine on the macbook at that resolution, but also while you have the settings or throw down what to do. not a bad FPS Do we have to not go too much to expect from the macbook, GTA IV remains a resource eater. really accurate benchmarks I did not, all I know is that I am more than satisfied with the performance. I had this also pretty much expected from a 9,600 gt 512mb. Back to mac I turn here Mac OS X Leopard (10.5 so). In the media market, where I picked it up because iCentre had the macbook is out of stock, they told me that there would be 10.6, only now there appears to stand still 10.5. Klootzakkerig bit of them, but oh well ... The OS itself is fine. As I said, the touchpad is very nice, though of course it does not work again many features in windows. Furthermore, I do not really have much to say about mac itself. I work on my own. Php and. Java's it, I agree firefox and internet listening music with it. That's all fine, so the OS was successful. I worked for a time with ubuntu and I think mac os called progress, though I miss my wobbly windows though. Mac OS X does exactly what it should do, work. It is more beautiful than ubuntu, ubuntu because I find but ugly. Yeah, you've got 101 themes, but the themes are seldom really good. What I did notice is that root access is a lot more comfortable in finder. In ubuntu you had to open a new nautilus with root privileges which you must enter your password. Mac you must enter your password when editing files from root. No more fucked by dragging files from root to non-root and vice versa, as I had with ubuntu in the beginning. However, you must activate your root account. just like ubuntu, I did this using some commands in terminal that I had looked through google. However, root access, the normal user is not necessary. I myself use root privileges for PHP development. text editor if I use the Netbeans IDE ungainly, which is convenient for java but too clumsy for PHP. Really good but other simple text editors I have not found it yet. Battery The battery in this macbook is a miracle in itself: it goes to 7 hours, according to the Apple website. My personal record is not at 7 am, but that is simply because I use my laptop continuously. My record is just over 5 hours, which I was busy listening to music, the screen brightness was quite high and I was busy with firefox and netbeans IDE to write. Java's Heat and noise even during gaming is this laptop is incredibly quiet. The fan you hear or run, but it's certainly not a loud disturbing noise. It's more of a subtle buzz. In normal use, the laptop barely warm. When gaming is-ie noticeably warmer, but not hot. Similarly, the adapter is not particularly hot. My camera is not as useful, (a bank fallen to the ground: body does nothing.) so I can not take pictures. Update: 5 weeks later I am now in possession of my macbook for 5 weeks and I'm still working every day behind. Touchpad is very useful. I work pretty much all day behind my macbook and I work all the time with the touchpad. The use of a mouse is no longer there, but that's because Mac OS X mouse cursor affected when using a mouse: The acceleration of the speed of the cursor is not fluent. For example, the cursor moves slowly when you mouse moves slowly. As you start to move your mouse still slightly faster you pass a border with the mouse acceleration suddenly your mouse move much faster late. So this limit has no smooth transition, which I personally like disturbing experience, as both windows and linux ubuntu does not (by default) have this feature. There was probably a way to turn this off, but have not found it yet. I also take my complaints about Cirrus Logic audio drivers since any back: When using Windows XP, the drivers are much better. So if you bootcamp going to use: install windows XP for the best experience. recently I found out that the switch between the 9600M GT and 9400M GT is not automatically going as I had understood from the stories of the local apple store: the switch is via a checkbox in System Preferences estimated to at least four mouse clicks. Also, you need to login to use another chip which you so all you have to close programs. Luckily I use the 9600M GT mainly in windows for games and the 9400M GT Mac OS for internet and web development. When starting Windows automatically 9600M GT used as far as I know. I do not know. Whether it is possible to use windows for extended battery life, the 9400M GT The bottom of the MacBook is almost flat with the exception of four black rubber pads. However, these 4 rubbers stabbing barely out, so every speck of dust on the table can provide a scratch. I use a large mouse pad under my macbook to keep the bottom nice but I'm too late: the bottom has some ugly scratches and stains incurred. The bottom is also a little bit convex: when I place a ruler against the bottom can be seen that the bottom is not flat. The center comes out about a millimeter or two from. it would not have to make that the bottom is filled with something, however, because the 4 rubbers even a millimeter or two protrude hits the convex bottom so always the table. It is to note when the rotation of the laptop that there is in the center axis forms a kind because the middle touches the bottom of the table. The result is a dull spot on the bottom neatly finished. The mid-point of the convex side is not exactly in the middle. It's somewhere under the J, K or M key on the keyboard. -At least, that is the place of the "dull place" at the bottom. however, I do not really matter that the bottom has some scratches. You do not see the bottom and the laptop is a delight for lap without all those great things and grills. , I can unfortunately you still can not provide pictures as my camera is still not back from the super fast repair service from Sony
