Asus F3Sc-AP206C

This Asus combines - at time of writing (September 2007) - fast processor (T7250), lots of memory (2GB) and gadgets (webcam, FireWire, Bluetooth) with a reasonable price. The reasonable price compared to other laptops Asus F3 does have to do with the lesser graphics card, a 128MB GeForce 8400M G (score 3 in Vista), but for those who do not play 3D games, but watching a movie, it should be sufficient are, so I thought. Upon unpacking the box I was charmed by rugged-looking body. Smart, a lot of little stickers under the keyboard, but hopeful that the hinges of this item it last long. Besides webcam mentioned, there is also a fingerprint reader, so you can leave it to a string band of your finger. login I have not tested it, because this laptop is not for myself, but from experience with a USB stick, I know it works fine. shame that such a laptop with a trial version of Norton and Office 2007 is installed. Takes me back time to get that off and less computer-minded people are more pushed from ignorance to purchase. Norton license to speed strikes me bad. Windows Vista with aero, I only heard horror stories about. The laptop seems often faster than my regular AMD 3800x2. It seems that sometimes when installing a long time frozen, but that will have to deal with Vista. The laptop gives high scores (over 4.5) in Vista, so except the video card is a 3, which seems to be the minimum for Aero. A movie playing succeed but without problems. The webcam gives a good picture, and after installing Skype, I "accidentally" equal contact and the sound is fine. For a film could use satellite speakers. Finally, you can also work without a battery, and that's a good thing. After more than an hour is surely finished. But yeah ... Edit March 2008: The duration of the battery is at 2 o'clock. In addition, I do not care for optimal (dis) charge. Still satisfied with the operation, given the above caveats. Edit May-July 2009: After just under 2 years is a laptop (for own use) stopped. Probably broken video chip. Could fortunately the hard disk still backup. RMA and sent after 9 weeks (!) Received a replacement from Asus.
