Asus K93SM-YZ115V

Asus K93SM - Gaming Review
This review will focus on the gaming performance of this notebook. It is therefore the GeForce GT630M where attention goes. The reason for buying the notebook was due to the strong processor (Intel Core i7 2670QM), the big screen with good resolution (1920x1080 @ 18.4 inches) and RAM . At school we have many virtualizations run and in my free time I like to play a game. The benchmarks used are put attention on a few elements:

DX11 features
Tessellation
Overall performance is expressed in FPS.
The following benchmarks / games are discussed:
World of Warcraft
3DMark06
Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark
Heaven DX11 3.0
Battlefield 3
Half-Life 2 Video Stress Test
I believe that the chosen benchmarks gives a good reflection of the actual gaming performance. So focusing 3Dmark06 and Final Fantasy is still on DX9 and thus give the "older games" again. Battlefield Heaven and show the power of DX11 can do with a GPU. World of Warcraft A lot has to be played MMO World of Warcraft or WoW (hereafter WoW). WoW has always worked in recent years with DX9, but is also fully converted for DX11 graphics cards. Since a time When testing the FPS is obviously DX11 used because the 600 series nVidia supports it. I have made a distinction between a client charged with WoW addons and without addons. The more active player will use addons and this may well affect the FPS anyway.

World of Warcraft - Orgrimmar @ 1920x1080 (with addons)
Low 115.6 fps
Fair 69.1 fps
Good 52.4 fps
High 37.9 fps
Ultra 26.1 fps

World of Warcraft - Orgrimmar @ 1920x1080 (without addons)
Low 122 fps
Fair 70.6 fps
Good 54 fps
High 41 fps
Ultra 31 fps

3DMark06
3DMark06 benchmark is an older but still gives a good representation of the less powerful video cards. 3DMark06 is not only the GPU but also the CPU test and it weighs in the score. Therefore, the graph each component separately again.

3DMark06 - default settings
Total 8271
SM2.0 score 3387
HDR/SM3.0 score 3001
CPU score 4154

Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark
It seemed useful to be able to run to see how other game engines respond. general benchmark

Final Fantasy XIV Official Benchmark
LOW (1280x720) 844 points
HIGH (1920x1080) 413 points

Show points that score almost exactly half that resolution and thus plays a major role. However, I found myself the FPS drop and there were often visible freezing which is extremely annoying in a game. Heaven DX11 Benchmark 3.0 Heaven has to be the trendsetter in the area DX11. They leave their engine to see what is possible with DX11 technology and technique called Tessellation. To show what Tessellation of resources wreet I leave the cages with different Tessellation modes. Heaven DX11 also with different resolutions is shown, however, these are made without Tessellation.

Unigine Heaven DX11 Benchmark 3.0
1920x1080 13.4 fps
1440x900 20.6 fps
1280x720 26.8 fps

Unigine Heaven DX11 Benchmark 3.0 - Tessellation @ 1920x1080
Moderate 11.4 fps
Normal 10.2 fps
Extreme 7.6 fps

Battlefield 3
Battlefield is still a very played shooter with very severe visual effects. Therefore, it seemed wise to test several types of resolutions and also the difference between the Low and Medium setting. High and Ultra are not addressed because the FPS at Medium was actually too low to be called at a high resolution. Playable game folder that is used is Caspian Border

Battlefield 3 - 1920x1080 - Medium
Minus 15 fps
Avg 17.8 fps
Max 25 fps

Battlefield 3 - 1920x1080 - Low
Minus 20 fps
Avg 22.6 fps
Max 30 fps

Battlefield 3 - 1650x1050 - Medium
Minus 17 fps
Avg 21.4 fps
Max 28 fps

Battlefield 3 - 1650x1050 - Low
Minus 24 fps
Avg 29.7 fps
Max 42 fps

Half-Life 2 Video Stress Test
The Half-Life 2 engine used to include Counter-Strike: Source and several Valve games offer a benchmark to test how they performed their engine ted with the video card. The Half-Life 2 engine has proven years that it is a very stable and strong engine and that it proves too. Counter-Strike: Source can be easily rotated with self 16xQ AA enabled.

Half-Life 2 - Video Stress Test - 1920x1080 max settings
Avg 65.35 fps

Conclusion
It is a great laptop to occasionally play on reasonable settings a game. Even older games are turning what gives a pretty picture on the big screen. Fully HD Something newer games and technologies are turning less well. The 1GB of video memory will sometimes take care at a high resolution. A bottleneck
