In mid-April I bought this laptop. The purpose of the laptop is mainly office work (many financial software).
Beforehand I actually had two requirements. There was a pad to sit on and the screen was at least 1080 and matte. Wish I had a game to play on the laptop so I do not have a lan my whole PC to bring so occasionally. Specs The (main) specifications of the laptop are as follows: Processor: Intel Core i7 3630QM Memory : 6 GB DDR3 Graphics card: Geforce GT 650M Hard Drive: 1TB 5400 RPM Screen: 1920x1080 (matt + LED) on a 17.3'' screen. Box Contents The laptop is well packed and envelops with Styrofoam in a sturdy box. In the box you will find the laptop adapter, a power cable, a laptop, a mouse and a small external subwoofer. Obviously the laptop covered with foil to protect the laptop. Firmness, looks and build quality , the casing of the laptop is aluminum and feels solid. When out of the box the laptop flexes nowhere by. What is striking is that the laptop does is fairly heavy, 3.6 kg. The top of the laptop seems brushed aluminum and has an ASUS logo that glows when the laptop is on. Negative was that the DVD tray sticks out a little bit, this may damage your appearance earlier. A positive point, I think the finish of the LAN port (1 Gbps) having a downwardly hinged cover has. As a result, there will be less dirt. A sensitive point of a laptop I find the hinges of the screen. So far I can detector the hinge is quite stiff (does not go with one hand open) but in 3 weeks time has not diminished. His overall the laptop through all the aluminum does get dirty with handprints and fatness to your hands. Connectors for me not very relevant, but others might. The laptop has several external connections. On the left side of the laptop you'll find 2x USB 3.0, 1x Gbit LAN, 1x HDMI, 1x DSUB, 1x power connector and the cooling output. On the right side there are two USB find 3.0 ports, audio out / in and subwoofer out . The DVD-ROM is located on the right. At the front, an SD card can not be inserted. an (open) slot One advantage is that the cooling is on the left (for right handed then ). Input for me was the presence of a number pad key. I use a lot of excel and accounting software and therefore is much finer than the numbers above the letters or by a FN button. therefore, this laptop has a separate number pad. However, this is a bit on the small side. To be honest, the entire keyboard is quite narrow. despite my big fingers I experience is not adversely impacted. The keys have very little travel and you get used to the keyboard pretty quickly. Well, I had a little longer to get used to the'' 0'' on the numpad, which is smaller than most keyboards. On the ergonomics of the keyboard I have to mention any negatives no sharp edges, not too high, nothing wrong with it. A nice feature of this laptop is the lighting in the keyboard. Since I also quite often in the evening work, I like the fact that I can put (FN + F3/F4). From the lighting and If you are like myself you've installed Windows drivers needed from the ASUS website (ATK package), otherwise you can not turn on the lights. This driver is installed by default in the sale. 's touchpad I make almost no use, but as far as I've done that I can say that it works fine. Software As you could read, I just reinstalled Windows itself. I did this because of all the junk that Asus flour verde on the laptop, at initial boot, I had 100 running processes. This was too much of a good thing and that is why I put on windows again. This was initially difficult because the BIOS you need to change some settings, you can boot from USB or DVD. However, a quick google action quickly yielded the desired results. Moreover, the screen does not support touch, so the Metro interface, you just have to operate the mouse. Mobility The laptop is called. 3.6 kg for many a heavyweight Personally I find it weigh nothing and therefore do not find it bothersome nothing to walk around. There are plenty of laptops to be found in a lower weight class, but then you also lose the screen size. The battery I think pretty good. My old samsung laptop (R510) held it up to one hour. The Asus holds about 3-4 out during normal office use and the screen at maximum brightness. Put your display lower or remote you get definitely more than 4 hours on a full charge. The supplied battery pack (with separate bag) is pretty rude and power cable is really too short (+ / - 30-40cm). Achievements for performance I use the windows performance index because it is not very relevant to me. Should a lover who wants a specific benchmark, you can always do us a favor. Important to mention is that I have a Crucial M4 128GB SSD've added. Here is also a plus sign, to my surprise, the laptop has 2 hard drive bays. So I've got the SSD as primary disk, the 1TB as a secondary disk and a DVD-ROM. The incorporation of these went simple. Results of the windows performance index: Processor: 7.8 Memory: 7.8 Graphics: 7.1 Gaming Graphics: 7.1 Primary hard disk: 8.1 For office use, the laptop definitely not hot and the fan is inaudible. Use your laptop firmer than the fan noise audible, but keeps the laptop or cooling. For lovers some benchmarks added. wPrime 32M results Lower is better CrystalDiskMark results Higher is better. 3D Mark 06 Results Higher is better. Audiovisual The screen is bright and has a beautiful color. It is a TN panel, so let be desired. Viewing angles The screen is 1920x1080 pixels and measuring 17.3'' and is matte. The lighting is by LED's, as far as possible, I can not perceive bleeding. The sound is very good. In relation to my old laptop, the speakers (by Bang & Olufsen) to mention. Been very good The sound is clear one not hollow. The external subwoofer sounds much better everything, but you have to take it apart or anywhere. Price Finally the price. I bought this laptop in Breda for € 999, -. Given the quality of the laptop's hardware, I think this is actually better than expected, however. The laptop at the cheapest price in the watch for € 884 is now being offered, which in my eyes is really a top price. additional advantage of the laptop, I also think that you get a laptop and mouse (very small!) included. Given the business use, I do not have to buy this. Loose bag of Appendices LEDs keyboard LEDs keyboard Top laptop ASUS logo screen
