I purchased this laptop because it was for my next training (ICT Media Design) recommended to purchase a laptop. Requirements were however made to the specs, so there had to be a separate video card in it for example with dedicated memory. After a bit of searching on the site of 4Launch I came to the Z53SC-AP085C notebook from Asus. Featureset The components in the notebook is excellent. Thus there is an Intel Core 2 Duo mobile in, and called the T7100 with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and 2MB of L2 cache. This is for a laptop of course a nice processortje. Furthermore, there is a nice video card: nVidia GeForce 8400M. This creates the image on the 15.4 "WXGA screen with a resolution of 1280x800.'s Hard drive that is in the Asus, with a size of 160GB, of course, is not nothing. A small downside to the specs is surely the 1024MB of memory . This is a laptop that Vista Home Premium is on very scanty. Coming soon, but as of 1024 there lath prick! All nice specs for a "study" laptop obviously Furthermore, this laptop has a 4 host USB 2.0 ports. One on the front, one on the right side and two on the acterkant. There is also a 1394 (FireWire) located on right side, connection just like DVI, VGA, S-Video, TV-in, two network ports (modular and ISDN) and an Express Card port. On the left is to find the DVD + /-RW and above the WXGA screen you will find a 1.3 megapixels webcam and a microphone! The Asus notebook also has an integrated 802.11g for Wireless Internet connections. At the front's also find an SD card reader and two 1.3 jack for microphone and headphones. The notebook features stereo speakers, unfortunately, very crappy quality. Anyway, I did not really have high hopes for these speakers. When the speaker is also some handy quick-buttons. With this example you can quickly switch various modes (high performance, quiet office, entertainment and battery saving mode) to affect the battery. Duration Also you can open WMP, disable the touchpad, the web browser startup (not yet found how I can set it so he opens FF) and there is a button for changing the color display. Achievements Here "only" a meager sufficient. This is due to (too) high expectations of the 8400M video card. I had read somewhere that a 8400M up to 50% faster than a GeForce Go 7400 (dumb as I was, I have not checked). As a friend of mine has a notebook with a GeForce Go 7400, and that reasonable CoD2 can play with it so I thought it would be no problem to play a game. These 8400M However, this was quite disappointing. Need for Speed Carbon takes reasonable but Call of Duty 2 that I really respond to average quality. I can not stand just as eye-candy whore So CoD2 but no play at school (fortunately we have CS 1.6 yet! ) The processor is clocked at 1.8 GHz with its ample. However, it is the memory that up a bit delayed. 2x512MB Vista is therefore very much! 2x1024MB combination on my desktop Vista gives an idle memory consumption by 45%! This was on my laptop it was around 80%! (With 2x512MB than he ) Edit @ July 31, 2007 3DMark06 score: 1018 Bit disappointing really, I think that the score will fall into it when I got squished ... 2x1GB higher because this is obviously not acceptable image quality is the quality of generally very good and sharp. However, use is made of the hype that is called "Crystal View". This makes the screen a mirror when he is off, but so this is also the case for example if you play games like NFSC. So you have to race in the night really bothered by your head is in the middle of your picture. Moderately irritating while gaming, but with normal use (internet, word processing, photoshop, etc.) I have no problems. Building quality and robustness My first experience with this notebook about the build quality are good. I have a feeling he'll can take a beating (though I will not let overwhelm course to test it to him down the stairs ) The pivot points of the screen feel solid. This may of course be because the laptop is new and just the hinges are a little stiff. However, she also firmly eyes so I'm not worried about it further. Ergonomics Delicious, that tapping on a laptop keyboard. I'd almost consider buying for my desktop! UltraX a tobo Logitech to the layout of the keyboard takes some getting used to (but this is because I work with the same tobo for 4 years in combination with my desktop) I raus especially many keys along the enter and stuff. There the home, page up, page down, and end keys to find, I am not (yet) accustomed. Heat and noise , the noise can be described as good. I hear the little laptop and when I hear him, it is certainly not bothersome. A few times I hear the HDD spinning but that's not as bad as my desktop PC. About the noise, I do so to speak. The laptop is not overly hot but after x number of hours in heavy load can begin to develop as I do thing on my lap a sweat spot I stand But that seems no more than normal for a laptop with such specifications. mobility and battery life with 2.95kg, this laptop is quite mobile. However, there are of course the kabeltoei and AC mess with. This ensures there anyway for necessary extra weight. Combined with the battery life, it is always desirable to have the power adapter. at In high-performance mode, the battery life is only 1.5. Since the saving modes make an adjustment to the brightness I think it is at all times advisable to run. On high performance mode In battery saving mode, you can still soon 2 hours to build on the battery before you have to go to AC power. About price I have filed for € 997.50. For a laptop of this caliber really not a bad price. It is not a gaming laptop but you also do not pay for. Conclusion I almost forgot to tell about the design: what a wonderful thing this is! The combination of silver / black is very beautiful, but also about the shape I'm very pleased. For more details: look the pictures
