Samsung ATIV Smart PC

Like many other manufacturers, Samsung has been battling with the question of how notebooks or ultra-books can be. Combined with the best touchscreens Concepts that the company showed at the IFA, we know that Samsung include experimented with zwivels - with rotating screens - sliders - with sliding touch screens - and other solutions. Eventually, a design came out with detachable keyboard, much like the famous hybrid based on this idea: the Asus Transformer. Unlike those, however, the Samsung tablet machines do not run Android, but Windows 8.

The choice of a tablet with keyboard dock is not very surprising: at the first encounter with Windows 8 at Microsoft Build last year, Samsung announced its Series 7 Slate out to developers to try out the touch capabilities.

Late October brings two Samsung models to the store shelves: a instap' version with Atom chip and a variant with Core i5 for more demanding users. Samsung calls these tablets ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro, respectively. Tweakers.net watched what's so smart these PCs.
