Thanks to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, we are seeing more and more old classics back to life. Besides retro games or existing games with a new look, there's also plenty of new content that is worth. And sometimes those arcade games so popular that they make the transition to independent game. So that's the story behind Geometry Wars. Started as (clogged) minigame in the racing game Project Gotham Racing 2 for Xbox, then as flashy Xbox Live Arcade game called Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and now available as a new game for the Wii.
For those new to the game, Geometry Wars is a space shoot'em-up. A little into oblivion genre where the player in the space, everything that moves shoot in a desperate attempt to survive. If properly done, then these games were certainly good for addictive gaming hours, but there appeared obviously many mediocrities recent decades. If a fine tribute to Asteroids, Geometry blows new life into the genre and the Xbox Live Arcade version is now completed with the necessary extras and even a multiplayer mode. Go ahead.
