Call of Duty: World at War

Activision has garnered much success with last year's Call of Duty 4. Especially the multiplayer mode was a big hit, and the shift of the Second World War to a more modern setting was well received. It should therefore be mentioned that the next game in the series, Call of Duty striking: World at War, again goes back to World War II. Many fans of the game have taken by surprise at the decision. In addition, this section has been developed by Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty 3, the least part of the franchise again.

Tested on: Xbox 360 Also available for: Playstation 3, PC Different versions: Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable

Call of Duty: World at War pushing the player campaign with two stories, as is customary in the game series. In the Pacific, the game follows the adventure of the American soldier Miller, while on the Russian front battle Private Dimitri Petrenko is followed. Both stories alternate regularly, as usual in Call of Duty. The Russian mission in Stalingrad begins and ends in the heart of Berlin, while the Americans in the Pacific through Peleliu march on Okinawa.

The World War II-setting is as familiar as milked. Certainly the battle between the Russians and the Germans, we have seen enough, but also in the Pacific, we are in other games like Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault and Battlefield 1942, has been. The setting is so much news to catch up and that's a handicap, since just made the change of setting Call of Duty 4 so refreshing. Treyarch has also had his hands full than an overly large "been there, done that' sense to avoid.

Dead Space

Zombies in abandoned villages we now know by now, so must the creators of Dead Space have thought. This survival horror game set in space, which also includes plenty to shudder. And no, not with zombies in space suits.

Release Dates of games often resemble the timetable of the Dutch Railways. One time you have to wait forever, and at another time everything suddenly appears at once. In summer, the gaming industry half comatose, but immediately followed by months in which the game will appear one after the other. You can set the clock is set to equal, because every year it happens again. This year appears just before the holidays a deluge of highly anticipated titles, including Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2, Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2 and Fable 2. Of course it is nice to have so much choice but some games run this risk to be seen over the head. Dead Space falls into that category, and it would be a shame if gamers would let this title. Unnoticed is beyond

*Ishimura

Dead Space is a survival horror game set in the distant future. Hundreds of years after the date the natural resources of the Earth exhausted. Fortunately, the human space travel now quite mastered and on different planets colonies founded to mine raw materials. A network of space stations regulates the transport of these materials and will look after the communication. Dead Space begins when engineer Isaac Clarke and his team is sent. To the space Ishimura For some unknown reason, let the crew of the Ishimura some time nothing is heard. Isaac and his colleagues suspect that there are problems with the communication system. Shortly after arrival, this appears to be a great misconception and a little later the body parts flying around.

Halo Wars

Few genres hear so in PC gaming as a first-person shooting and real-time strategy. Shooters have been accepted on the consoles, but several developers are trying to find ways to develop strategy. Games for platforms other than the PC Ubisoft tries in Endwar with voice control, while The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II and Red Alert 3 of their own skills are provided. However, none of those games is so clearly made for a console like Halo Wars, which in February 2009 exclusively for the Xbox 360 appears.

Even before we looked at the game, we can already say that Halo Wars game an appropriate title to the RTS genre to break a console with. It was, after all, Halo: Combat Evolved, the first convincing shooter experience managed to put down on a console. After Halo had conquered the world in the old Xbox appeared countless other shooters on consoles. Or Halo Wars will have a similar impact is doubtful, but the genre has gotten into the console market has no fixed place is clear.

Although Microsoft and developer Ensemble Studios want nothing more than the introduction of a permanent interface for strategy games on consoles, Halo Wars has not focused on strategy fans, by definition. Should especially attract the Halo fan, an endeavor whose realization does not seem too difficult the game. The Halo trilogy had its success partly due to the strong setting, and the same setting is the basis for Halo Wars. The game takes place long before Master Chief remains the only Spartan soldier, twenty years before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. Now the hero of the trilogy is called, we can immediately say that he will not be. In Halo Wars One thing is no different from the Halo shooters: people are always at war with the Covenant. Recently we got the chance to be in London one of the first missions of the game play

Rock Band PlayStation 3 Review

We have office Rockband for a while in use, along with one of my colleagues (sometimes two) I play the game very often. (Daily least 25mins) What is striking is that the guitars are exactly the same: both lead guitar and the bass is exactly the same device, indistinguishable from one another. Sometimes it would sometimes prevent the bassist in the wrong controller is holding, and sometimes change the wireless control case, the two also agreed to. Not insurmountable, minor irritation sofar. Personally, I sit behind the drums, and although I can not play the drums, I have determined it myself. Of course you miss the cimbels and of course it would be cooler if you have two foot pedals, but it would be particularly useful if the entire colossus a little would remain in place, so it does not ... With you off sliding drum is difficult to play and so we need to be parked everything: a vacuum cleaner or anything heavy that does not just slide. The songs are fun, but if you play longer you know them at a given time. Now I must say that we have downloaded. Content Although this game a lot will extend the setup is not ours, and it would therefore be a waste to be (extra) in which to invest. You touch the songs quickly got used and although difficult songs in it (I hate Enter Sandman really) is great fun: especially with two or more players.

Ratchet & Clank - Quest for Booty

Despite the fact that the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 together nowadays not outrun much for what the games are concerned, Xbox Live has been online long before saying, while it was on the Playstation Network. Suspiciously quiet But Sony has in pursuit, and not just with a few old games and additional songs for Guitar Hero. Since recently there are new original games found, with titles such as Grand Turismo 5 Prologue, Echochrome, PixelJunk Eden and now Ratchet & Clank PSN: Quest for Booty.

Played on: Playstation 3 (exclusive title)

The Ratchet & Clank series, starring the feline Ratchet and his robot friend Clank, running all the necessary for years on various PlayStations. Games like Size Matters, Up your Arsenal and Going Commando stand apart for their ambiguous titles especially known for its accessible and challenging 3D game play and their toilet humor. Quest for Booty, the successor to the beginning of this year for the PS3 title appeared Tools of Destruction, is available for download via PSN and costs only 15 euros. Note that for 15 euros you get a game that only costs a quarter of normal PlayStation games, but it's also quite a bit smaller than normal games. As of last month's Quest for Booty also available on Blu-ray, allowing people to be able to play without the Internet and / or credit card, or - to give a gift -. During the holidays in the offing

*Robot Clank

In terms of content, it appears that the creators of this 'Ratchet & Clank snack-size' have chosen. Slightly for the fastest way The story has to begin not too much to much. Robot Clank is kidnapped by a pair of robot pirates and Ratchet must save his boyfriend. Together with his girlfriend Talwyn puts Ratchet chase and together they end up in a world of robot pirates, called the Zoni, who can tell more jokes than your grandfather. That may sound nice, but the effect is faintly. The story is the level of-thick wood cutting boards-one, it has no twists and turns and the main and supporting characters are not really funny.

*Strange choice

What have been preserved from the older Ratchet & Clank games, the individual levels that are about the same size and where you usually are sweet with an hour each. Where you at the beginning of the game do not have much more than a crowbar or other games bang gun, you get Quest for Booty However once all weapons in the game. An odd choice, since it not only very overwhelming to suddenly be able to use a handful of weapons is thus one of the nicer parts of a platform game lost. Moreover, you can better not spend too much time on these weapons. As soon as you get them, you are they suddenly lost, and then you have to see them again to be found.

Tom Clancy's EndWar

While some developers realistic war studiously avoided and work in their games with non-existent parties, Tom Clancy's EndWar publisher Ubisoft player dishes out a credible frightening picture of the future. The U.S. Joint Strike Force, the European Enforcer Corps and Russian Spetsnaz at loggerheads, when a tense situation from escalating and leading to the Third World War ...

*Tutorial

The way this war is concluded is the tutorial of Endwar. While the player learns step by step with Endwar to go, the 'Prelude to War' is also explained in detail. The bottom line is that the Russians are sneaky way to ensure that the U.S. and Europe clashed with each hit, so they can open. Undisturbed attack on Europe During this process you play varied missions with all three parties, so you get all sides of the story to see and know how each party gets involved in the war. At this stage, it is fun to see how each party has its own vision, which is partly visible through the news bulletins that are played in the background.

After playing through the prelude should be chosen for one of the three factions, and from that moment you control so only the country of your choice. Interestingly, each party has different specialties. For example, the European army should have high-tech and speed, while the Russians on older and slower, but more powerful units available. It is therefore important to choose the style that best, or to keep up with the strengths of your faction. Account at least for you

*Risk

Once past the prelude begins the game really, Endwar and turns into a kind of advanced version of the board game Risk. The world map is divided into regions, where each party in the beginning about the same amount of property. The goal is clear: to defeat your opponents in as many areas as possible, so as to conquer the world and win the war.

Legendary

Time is a scarce commodity for a full-time gamer. So come with me though that a game, like a good wine in a cellar for a while before I can taste remains thereof. That was the case with Bioshock, which I only recently started it. When I started playing around the same time I noticed that Legendary it in the base game similar quality was lacking, and I assumed he'd left behind. Hopeless The latter turned out to be the end.

Like the Bible recorded tree of life which Eve took a bite, it runs from Greek mythology story of Pandora's box coming to the disastrous consequences that can arouse curiosity. Hephaestus, the god of fire, created in his workshop a beautiful metal sculpture of a woman. Zeus took the picture so much that he brought it to life and gave it the name Pandora. His wife Hera was obviously jealous and when all the gods gave Pandora gifts as beauty, cleverness and persuasion, Hera gave her curiosity, and curiosity that would leave her no time to rest. Nice gift, especially if Zeus then gives her a beautifully decorated box that should absolutely never be opened and then coolly to give her the key. It will obviously not take long for the box opens and immediately clear why it should continue. Closed forever Diseases, disasters and any other forms of evil flying into the world and put an abrupt end to the carefree existence of mankind.

*All hell breaks loose

Everyone will agree with me that a story like that of Pandora lends itself well for a game. Especially when the case in question, of course, in the middle of the metropolis of New York put open, and instead of disease and disaster seemingly endless horde of mythical monsters breaks loose to destroy the city. And all thanks to the art thief Charles Deckard, whose role you will be redirected to steal. Infamous Pandora's box from the historical museum in Legendary pad Once in the basement of the building showing the mythological artifact but also for him to have an irresistible appeal and he quickly acts already in Pandora's footsteps by opening the carton. While doing so, a foreign stake rammed through his hand, with which he is connected to the cursed artifact mysteriously. Before he knows what's going on all hell breaks loose and turns the museum into a bloody disaster area full of death and destruction
